Child Health Checks

Public Health Nurses at Newfoundland and Labrador Health Services offer a preventive health program called Child Health Check.

This program includes scheduled Child Health Clinics for children at two months, four months, six months, 12 months, 18 months, and four years of age.

Child Health Checks screen for potential health issues and provide parents with up-to-date guidance. During each visit, the nurse checks your child’s:

  • vision
  • hearing
  • speech and language
  • growth
  • development
  • oral health
  • immunization status
  • physical health
  • nutrition

The nurse will also share information to support your child’s growth and development. You can ask questions and discuss any concerns. If the nurse identifies an issue, they will offer support and refer your child to the appropriate health professional.
